I realize this has been posted several times before. But I took a few more pics and went with the simplest install for a 2002 A4 Avant. It took under an hour.
Tools: - 5/16" nut wrench - volt meter - zip ties - pliers 1) To gain access to the fuse box, I needed to drop the panel under the steering wheel. There are two screws underneath, and one behind the fuse access panel. 2) There are two screws holding the fuse box. The back of the fuse box opens easily enough. 3) I picked fuse #16, the garage door opener, because it isn't terribly important and it is switched with the key. ![]() 4) Using the valentine supplied vampire clip, I hooked into the power wire for fuse #16. ![]() 5) I used the screw that holds in the fuse box to gain access to ground. ![]() 6) To snake the wires for the V1, I hid them behind the A pillar against the glass. 7) I used a zip tie to bundle the wires together and mounted the valentine "direct-wire power adapter" behind the fuse box.

I need to hardwire a V1 in my new A4 and was wondering if there was a closer source in the headliner. I hardwired my M3 from the homelink in the headliner and it works great.Anyone done that?
