Default Valentine 1 Poll ....>

how many tickets has it gotten you out of vs. how many times has it not worked and you got the ticket

I'm more intrested in knowing if there has ever been a time you got a ticket while using it other than a situation like Ben pulling out in front of an unmarked cop I mean like when u got shot with laser or radar. How much time in advance does it give you to slow down? And what version should i be sure to get?

Default My best V1 save story.

I was driving to the Audi Quattro challenge at Sebring, north on US27. Very desolate road, nobody around at 11pm. I'm doing between 120-135 for about 45 minutes, I'm really flyin'. South of Belle Glade, my V1 starts chirping as it picks up a very faint radar signal. Being in the middle of nowhere, I know it can't be a false alarm so I slow down to 60. Two miles later, I'm cursing the V1 for giving me a false alarm until the signal strength increases and sure enough there's smokey on the shoulder with lights off.

Bottom line, the V1 saved me jail time, license suspension, and a hefty fine. I bought mine off audiworld classifieds for $300 used, I'm not sure what version I have or which if the best.

Default If the cop is using ka band pointing directly down a nice straight road, should detect 2 mile away

Default No radar detector can save you if the cop uses instant on, and you are the only car around. As long

as there are other cars that are getting checked within the the range of the V1 then you should get plenty of notice.

Default My best V1 story.........

Going down to Naples...I think Mike Green may have been with me....

I was cruising down I-75 at about 85mph, and suddenly the V1 starts picking up Ka band. I slow down and sure enough, about 1 mile up is a trap. So I slow down and cruise by the cop at 65mph. Once out of view, I hit the gas and get back up to 85...but notice my V1 is still going off. I look at the display and see that it is picking up 2 Ka signals....one forward, and one behind. So I slow back down and sure enough, there was another cop trying to catch the people who sped back up.

I would have been busted if I had ANY other detector. The V1 tells you how many radar guns it is tracking, and in which direction.

Default When you go to buy one new/refurbished, they will give you the latest version.

Or if you buy one used, you can pay I think 100 bucks and get updated software, but you have to send valentine your radar detector. In my mind, just buy direct from valentine.

Default When you buy a V1, you can go to the V1 website...

and enter in your serial #. It will then tell you if you need to send your V1 back to get the latest software. Get the V1, end of story.

Default Similar story where I got a ticket due to stupidity.

I had a similar situation in beautiful Pahokee, FL. I passed a FHP with his radar blazing, then increased speed afterwards. He bangs a yuee and promptly writes me a ticket for 50 in a 35. I asked him how he got me and he says he saw me doing the speed limit until we passed and his rear gun caught me speeding up. Doh!

So as I'm leaving, I notice the cop setting up a radar trap. I flash my blinkers to a bunch of cars coming the other way, and a local Pahokee cop see this and bangs another yuee and pulls me over again. This time, I was doing the limit but he wants to write me a ticket for warning motorists of a speed trap. I tell him I wasn't doing this and I don't think it's illegal even if I was. He then says he's going to write me a ticket for malfunctioning equipment, he's positive my lights were flashing on and off. In the end, he lets me go if I promised to never go to Pahokee again (the last part isn't true, but I'll never go back to Pahokee anyway).
