Default CGT was never turbo. Get a 5kt or 200t.

The turbo swap is a lot more involved than remove NA engine, install turbo engine, close hood, go fast. From what I gather, you have to cut the battery box out and relocate it to the trunk, either remove or relocate the A/C, I think the alternator needs to be moved(not sure about this one), etc. It's definitely a job that should be handled by someone with some real Audi skills and a lot of time, neither of which does the average Joe Mechanic have. Your best bet is to get an NG motor(2.3 liter, 130hp) from an 80q or 90 and tune that. It won't be as powerful, but it's a straight bolt-in, and it will still have good power.

Would it be possible to have this done to a 4-cyl non-quatt or would it require extensive mods? Just wondering...

Default I'm not sure. I think the trans might not bolt up, I'm thinking the clutches are different.

The best bet for a 4-cyl. turbo kit is ATP. I don't know if they have anything for the longitudinal Audi 8v motors, but they do a lot of early VWs, as well as late-model VW and Audi(1.8T).

Default Turbo installs are not generally done on NG motors due to their high compression ratios.
