Senders are transducers: they convert a physical phenomenon (heat, pressure, speed) into an electrical analog (voltage or resistance). In the 5000, we have only oil pressure switches.
I'm aware that the 100s and 200s have an oil pressure sender that's located on the passenger side of the engine block. I'm sorry that I have no idea of its spec, other than this, published by Audi: With connector G removed from sender, using tool VW1301, with ignition ON, gauge should read: Dial setting: 350; Gauge should read: 5 bar Dial setting: 150; Gauge should read: 2 bar Dial setting: 010; Gauge should read: 0 bar Though I haven't checked the schematic, I can only guess that the oil pressure sender's resistance changes as a function of oil pressure. Assuming that the VW1301's dial settings are linear, it appears that within this range the output resistance change of the sender vs oil pressure is fairly linear. If you have a 100 or 200 maybe you can hang a high impedance DVM on the oil pressure sender's G terminal and record its voltage vs oil pressure as indicated by your oil pressure gauge. I *can* help regarding oil pressure switches, which are located on the driver's side of the engine block. Low pressure switch: When the oil pressure is too low (below 0.3 bar), the low pressure switch closes and sends a ground signal to the oil pressure control module. When the oil pressure is above 0.3 bar, the switch is open. The high pressure switch works the opposite of the low pressure switch. When the oil pressure is sufficient (above 1.8 bar), the switch closes and sends a ground signal to the oil pressure control module. When the oil pressure is too low, the switch opens to ground. The oil pressure control module is integrated into the autocheck control module. Below 2000 RPM, only the low pressure switch is used to determine low oil pressure. Above 2000 RPM, the high pressure switch is used to determine low oil pressure.

I was just thinking I would like the oil temp/pressure gauges like a 200 has, but i'd have to make them bargraphs so i could find somewhere to put them in the 5000.
I guess the 200 must have aditional sensors?.. i guess i should take a look at my audi schematics |

I've successfully put a pair of VDO oil pressure and oil temp gauges in the ashtray location (see thread - http://forums.audiworld.com/v8/msgs/81197.phtml)
I used an oil pressure sender from an '89 100, and put it in the spot where the low pressure sender was on my 5000s. Having some problems with getting the 2nd terminal to work, but it may be just an incompatibility with the terminal and the autocheck system. VDO oil pressure sender (the one that can feed an actual gauge) looks like this -
