Default well....

Right now I'm running a stock 3B motor with a Mihnea chip and 2.5 BAR PT, good for about 275-280 HP at the crank. In the near future I'm going to upgrade to an RS2 turbo and EM and hopefully another Mihnea chipset and 3.0 BAR PT. I just obtained a set of Siemens injectors that are rated for 380cc @ 3.0 BAR. I guess I need to know if I need to upgrade the FPR or if the stock 3B unit will work with these bolt-ons. I've been told that if I run these injectors at 4.0 BAR, I'll be able to produce about 380 crank HP. I don't necessarily NEED 380 hp. Mid 300's would be nice...What will I top out at if I keep the 3.0 BAR FPR? Also, what do you mean by "rises with each pound of boost"?

Ooh, I thought of another couple questions: At what point does the fuel pump (stock Coupe Quattro) need to be upgraded? Do I have to go with an RS2 MAF?

Thanks in advance!

Ben

Default If its the same as the 80 fuel pump it should be good to around 500 hp.

Default Re: well....

do you know the lb/hr rating of your 380cc injectors? i can't remember the conversion. if they're anywhere near 37lb/hr they're good for about 325 well tuned in crank HP at 3.0 bar. if you go to 4.0 bar, then they'd act like a 43lb/hr injector and get you to the 375 mark.

the issues arise with things like the MAF which i'm no help on. also whether the ECU will control an injector that size properly. RS2 injectors that are intended for the whole package(turbo, em, maf etc) are 36lb/hr@3 bar.

i'd be asking mihnea what he can do, and maybe ask some of the urs4/6 guys what's workin for them on the MAF etc...

oh yeah, rising rate....there's a vac line to the top of your FPR, this adds boost to the upper diaphragm and adds fuel pressure as boost comes on. backs up the pressure in the line by closing down the return line. that make sense?

Default Yes, I believe they're 37lb/hr injectors.

The rising rate thing makes sense. Let's say I decide to do turbo, em, maf and keep the 3 bar fpr. If I upgrade at a later date to the 4 bar fpr, would I need a software remap again?

Default yep, otherwise

the injector dwell/opening times will be way off. larger injector doesn't need to be open as long. so you'd be waaaaay rich.

Default ok. It's starting to make sense. The toughest part now is trying to get ahold of Mihnea!
