I believe the stock radio and speakers are derivitives of BLAUPUNKT. The little box in back is for headphones for passengers.

Are there small amps that power the speakers?

I replaced a speaker in one of my doors while back and I don't remember seeing any amps. I believe only the Bose and the Delta had amps and the trouble with them.
Do you have a problem with yours? |

I had an '86 with the same OEM radio that you probably have. It is a wise investment to put in an aftermarket radio with more audio power, and better speakers, as the OEM radio and speakers weren't very good in my opinion. Besides, after all these years your original paper cone speakers must be pretty well shot. It is an easy "do it yourself" project. Be glad to give you my further thoughts if you are interested..............Rooster

The rear speakers of the standard 5k stereo system has amp assemblies for the rear speakers. They are mounted on the bottom of the rear speaker frames. There is a harness from them to the headphone jack box.
