Default Back home again!

Hi everyone! Just returned this P.M. from a 2750 mile trip to Champaign, IL and return with some minor detours. Car engine ran great getting 29-30 mph and good power. Also never used a drop of coolant or oil. However, I developed a vibration in the rear half under side that without looking, I suspect is a carrier bearing or rear CV. Who has had one these go and what do they sound like when getting bad?
Mine is a downshift against compression noise, that is obviously in rhythm with running gear. It also has a clicking noise associated at times but not always. More often it is a light rumbling vibration and most pronounced in third gear against compression. Very little or no indication when running with power on, upshifting or highway speed.
This problem began as I turned off the four lane near Champaign, IL.. It has held up to get me home, I am thankful to say but still vibrating.

Default Re: 2750 miles for a football game?!

Certified fan of one of the teams and certified to be football insane when they have a game. However, I needed to air out and have never seen a regular season game in person. Just wanted the experience one time. It was worth it to see this game with the intense rivalry.
Now I need to find out what is vibrating on the bottomside.

Default Glad you made it out and back safely...

Heh heh, I have been known to drive 2 to 3 hours to see my favorite rock and roll band, but that far for a football game?!? You _are_ a diehard fan!

Let us know when you get a chance to take a look at the underside, bet you a beer it's the center bearing.
