What does your car run at as a temp. I just put in a new thermo. and it seems to work but i just wanna be sure. Do you guy's cars go to the first solid line and not really move at all? I jsut wanan be sure, my g20 does that and it is fine know it(4cyl) but my 90 (2.8) fluxuates a little when on the highway it goes down and what not, like showing it works.

After my new thermostat, that is. I don't see any fluctuation once that temp is obtained... however, I've been driving in cooler weather and pretty much all highway for short stints... no traffic or high ambient heat.
Before that and a new MFTS, it'd be below the bar, then peg the gauge to the left.

I just did the thermostat and MFTS in my 93 S4. With the new thermostat but old MFTS, it went to "90" degree C, and then dropped like a stone (bad MFTS). With the new MFTS, it goes up to just under "90" and pretty well stays there, at least around town, in 10 deg C weather (Vancouver, Canada). If you have the automatic climate control you can check this through the on board HVAC diagnostic system:
With the car ignitiion on (and presumably running), hit the UP arrow and RECIRC buttons at the same time. You should see 01c in the display. This is the first diagnostic channel. Hit the temp up (+) button until you scroll to channel 51 (51c). Then hit the recirculation button. The display will show you the coolant temp. The whole procedure can be found at the URL attached.
