Default Re: Factory Audi A6 wagon ski racks

I got some factory A6 Audi wagon ski racks from eBay (they actually have a Audi part number on them). They ended up not fitting my car because they are for the 1998 and newer A6 wagons. The newer cars have thicker Euro-rails so the clamps didn't grab them securely --- a good thing to know. The odd thing is the Audi rack is made by Thule. Thule claims their number 450 crossroad adapter feet fit all A6 wagons & Allroads but the Audi factory racks with the different adapter feet only fit the late wagons, 1998 or newer. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Default Thule 450s are universal fit with a wider adjustment possibility.

'98 is the same as earlier, '99-on is just different enough not to fit securely. I've got Yakima feet on my '96 Avant and they are supposed to fit up to current models too. Eh. Whatever floats(or holds) your boat.... ;}~

Default I use thule with great sucess. Before I had Berecrafters and lost snowboard while driving at 85mph

My worst fear, that it will slice nack in car behind did not materialize. Insead it was flatened by 18 wheeler.

In any case I like Thule. I have both snowboard and bike attachments. I also use crossbars to cary large objects.
