If anybody cares, I purchased a switchblade key/keyfob today. My fob had the FCCID: MZ2 410 819 4. The switchblade had the FCCID: MZ2 410 819 6 4. I wasn't sure it would work. It does.
You need two keys to program the unit, one is left in the ignition while it is on, the other is then used to manually lock the driver's door to put it in "program" mode. Then you press the open button on the new keyfob in one-second increments (1 time = remote #1, 2 times = remote #2, etc. 5 times = deletes all remotes) This doesn't have anything to do with the seat memory function in this car. Then wait six seconds and press unlock once again. The new remote should work. Jim |

Needed to clear up thread heading for search engine purposes. I had a heck of a time finding this information (although my service guy offered to do it and seemed a tad disappointed that I had discovered the "secret" on my own).

Where were you able to locate a switchblade with the FCCID: MZ2 410 819 6 4? And how much was it??

I'd like to go that route too.
I need to find out how much it put you back total, who/where... Also, I didn't understand whether you got it to control your seats too or not. I thought it was automatic, and that it unlocked the doors, and reset the seat position to Driver 1 or Driver 2 depending on the key.

I paid $25 for the used switchblade remote on ebay. I paid $43.50 for the flip key cut at my audi dealer (it's really a two piece deal). In my car, the remote can be programmed to the seat memory panel. So I set my seat and mirror settings to #1, then I program the seat panel #1 to recognize "my" remote. When I use the remote to open the car, it returns the seats and mirrors to my setting. (Any setting, 1 - 4, as you program).

Scott and Malcolm, unless I want to have a new project, including machine work and welding, I have to get the whole "flip key blank" unit. they tend to run about $40 to $60ish. Every dollar saved will get me closer to buying Scott's "elusive dipstick." ;~} Dealer here is $38.50 for "valet key" and locksmith is $18.

you can get a holster here when you get it all set up. ;-)
Searching around all I can find are references to "group buys" from dealers.
