I started off with 2 add-a-circuits (not the mini's) I bought at my local AutoZone for $12.00. This shows the 2 add-a-circuits after they have been spliced together. I just crimped them together and wrapped them in electrical tape. There needs to be 2 15 amp fuses in the circuit you are going to use as "your hot lead". In my case I used slot # 39 (hazards). This allows one of the fuses to draw the power from the hazards and the other fuse to continue the operation of the hazards. On the other end you just need one 15 amp fuse plugged into the circuit, which will then plug into slot #36 (fog lights / front and rear).
You will still need to look at the schematic of your fuse panel to make sure you are plugging the right circuits into the right slot as I do not know if the fuse panels will vary from year to year, or different models for that matter. I have a 2002 allroad and I am stictly referring to my cars fuse panel when I state certain slot numbers (just my little disclaimer) ![]() This second pic shows my fuse panel with the add-a-circuits plugged in. You will notice the add-a-circuit that I placed in slot #39 (hazards) is upside down. I do not know why this makes a difference but it does. Maybe it has to do with polarity or something. Perhaps someone could shed some light on this. Finally I placed the other side, right side up, into slot #36 (fog lights / front and rear). I was very careful not to let anything touch anything else since I was a little paranoid. I also do not know if it makes a differece which order they are plugged in (it didn't seem to matter with my car) ![]() Since I am not, nor pretend to be any sort of electrician, be careful when doing this mod (just to be on the safe side). I just searched the forums and found a good right up on this mod done on a 2000 A6. After reviewing the write up and noticing that the fuse box layout looked the same I proceeded. Everything was very straight forward and easy to do. I also added a link to the write up I used.

I have been running the mod for over a week and all is good. Also, I don't know for how long but Woodman-ar 01 has been running the same set up as well.

and how hard are they to change?
I think I'm going to try the PIAA Ion to see if the yellow light has any real visibility benefit in the fog. Are there any other considerations when choosing a replacement bulb? I don't want to fry my wires or melt my housings.

changing them is very easy. The lower mesh grill that surrounds the foglight just pulls out. Just take your time when you are pulling and you will feel the clips release. Then it's just 3 screws holding the assembly in, you will then see some sort of pressure clip holding the connector on, after thats unclipped, unscrew the back and your changing the bulb :-)

Only trouble spot I see (and this may be a benefit vs. an issue) is that the hazards aren't switched, so your fogs will be getting power to the switch even when the car isn't running. Probably not an issue, as the normal headlights are setup that way too.
I used block 27 as my "feed" -- seems to work fine, even though I have the heated wheel and (obviously) the rear wiper. I just used the blade-taps from the original writeup for the '00 A6, and taped them off to avoid contact w/ other bits. Key to remember when wiring this up is that the foglight fuse needs to be BLOWN, and you need to tap into the right-side of the fuse on 36, and the left side of your donor fuse. You should also include an in-line fuse between the connections, since you're wiring from the feed-side to the fused side, and therefore you're bypassing the fuse for your fogs. Single blade-style taps look a bit less clunky IMO, but I couldn't find the ones you used in the two stores I looked at so I went w/ the $0.99 RadioShack taps and some insulated posts. Works great.

A bit off topic, but I'm in the same Pierce County area, have had my '01 6 speed AR for about a month, and among other mods, want to get the windows tinted...Can you recommend anyone in the area that does decent work? Thanks in advance!
