![]() As an alternative to the roof-mounted bike rack, I use the Thule Model 948 Hitchin' Post, a towbar-mounted system. Utilizes the Model 949 Zip Stick for lateral stability. Worked quite well at highway (80mph) speeds, and over bumps. Photo taken on the Washington coast, north of Aberdeen.

I'm still a big fan of the roof rack... Minimal contact with the bike, absolute stability. =)

I saw the pic of the polished tow hitch (the round bit). Does this come off, and the Thule bolt on in its place? Is there a hidden part that needs to be installed, such as this...Hidden trailer hitch mount?
