Nobody here had any insight on how to do it for me so here is my quick donation to all you "do it yourself guy's" out there without having to guess so much like me. I am not a pro but this is how I did it. If there is anything I missed the blanks will be filled in quickly by doing it. If this is too much for you my boys at Revd Up tuning in Mira Mesa CA(858) 558-8030 will be happy to do it for you. For a small fee that is.
![]() New KW V2 Kit. No special tools needed. Just metric sockets, allen head wrenches, box/open end wrenches, big hammer, wd40, big screwdriver for prying, a floorjack, and patience and a friend. ![]() After the car is in the air and the wheels are off, start by removing the plactic shock tower cover my pulling the rubber gasket off the engine bay. It goes back on easy and makes putting the whole thing back together easier. Remove the 3 bolts on top of the shocktower. ![]() Undo the bolt on the top part of the silver colored brace in the pic above and the bolt at the bottom of the shock below. With the wheels off the ground the lower a arm will settle giving you enough room to get it out. The hard part is, the shock is really stuck in the lower a arm mount so lube it up with plenty of wd40 to make it easier for you. ![]() As you can see by this pic the lower a arm has a slot. The shock has a tab that this slides into.I had one person wiggle and pull on the shock while anothe used a srewdriver to pry the tabs on the lower a arm apart while I hit the shock out from the bottom with a 1/2 inch extension and a hammer. It was a tough battle but we prevailed with no damage to the old shocks. ![]() The old fronts. ![]() The new ones just slid right in. Place a floor jack under the lower a arm and slowly jack it up into postion to get it to line up with the holes in the top shock tower and thread those 3 bolts in. It was a little tough getting back in postion but with patience and love it will go. Don't force it, give it love. After that put the bolts back in the silver brace and the lower a arm. ![]() ![]() The rear is the easy part. Put a floor jack under the lower a arm in the back and take out the bolt that connects the shock to the lower a arm and the bolt that holds the a arm onto the brake assembly. Slowly let the floor jack down until basically the spring falls out. The picture of the bolts (above) are at the top of the shock. It took me a while to find out how to get to those bolts cause in other cars you have to rip out the interior to get to the top of the rear shocks. Undo those and their out. Take the stock foam bumpstop out of the top shockmount and use the supplied KW ones. That also took me a sec to figure out but you will know what to do right away of you read this. The new KW shock goes into the upper shock mount. You will have to use a allen wrench and a box end together to tighten it on the mount. Bolt the shock back up with the 2 bolts on top and put the spring into it's perch. Jack the a arm back up and replace the lower shock mount bolt and a arm bolt. Now you just have to adjust the nuts on the suspension to find you desired height. I don't know the numbers on how low I went we just measured the threads on the supension to make sure it was even and I lowered it till I was happy. There is a set screw on the front coilovers but not the back. Loosen it when adjusting and tighten it when finished. ![]() BAAAAAMMMMM all done. ![]() More pics to come soon. PS after you got it at the right height, go get it aligned so your tires don't get ate up. Good luck. |
