Test Drove A3 yesterday... My wife loves it so we're going to get one.. Some questions...

Any common problems with the A3 2.0t/Dsg?

What is the average gas mileage most people get with the car?

Does this car have 'launch control'? (if so how do you do it)

Anyway thanks for your time.. we're going to probably get a

-2007 2.0t DSG
-Ocean Blue
-S-line package
-Open Sky
-Cold weather package

1. Most common issue has been the Open Sky, with either latch problems, rattles, or the shade not retracting easily (TSB for two of these, I believe). There was a spate of DSG-related problems reported within a couple of weeks of each other in the summer, but nothing seemed to indicate widespread issues (knock on wood).

2. When I was nearly all city driving, my mileage was in the low 20's. Now that I do nearly all freeway driving, I'm averaging 27-30mpg, depending on whether I can keep it below 75 for much of the full tank.

3. 2006 did not have launch control. I don't believe the 2007's have it, as VAG reportedly decided against bringing this feature over here (on either the A3 or GTI).

DSG - 5,000 miles and no problems so far. I love it!
MPG - 22 in city!
Lauch control??? Don't know what this is!

3.2 DSG with 7,000 miles; Get fun! 21 mg with aggressive driving; 23 mpg at 80 mph highway. Launch control is not in the A.3 US programming. I have replaced the stock Pirelli tires with max. perf. Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Z rated tires. The sidewall damatically improved the handling. Be sure to set the speed warning light!

fun factor, but no owner would ever complain about that!

No problems so far (about 4 k miles).
