Hi all. I've just bought an A3 1.8T, and it is fantastic. I test drove a few other cars (including the Clio 172 and Golf V6 4-motion) and the A3 was by far the best of the bunch. I only have one gripe - which seems to be a common one - the door seals are incredibly creaky. I've read the thread on this site about them, and I'm going to take the car back to the dealer today to try and get it sorted. I'll let you know how I get on.
I have been very impressed with the quality and friendliness of the postings on this site - by far the best forum I have come across anywhere. Keep it up! (Sorry - sounds like a school report!) Cheers Jape Ming Blue 1.8T Sport

Nice colour choice, can I recommend the sport grill (i.e. without chrome surround) looks excellent on the dark colours.
Any plans to upgrade the ECU etc.. David

Hi to all !
I'm from Germany, but the best forum for AUDI I can find is the Audiworld-Forum ! I drive a chipped 110hp - TDI A3 with now 130hp, "kornblume"-blue. |

Hi Flo
What chip did you choose and what difference did it make? Any other mods? Thanks Darryl - (picking up Tdi 110 next week!) |

I took a chip from a very small company : Hopa.
They won a test in the magazine "Auto-Bild". The company is so small, that they don't have a webpage. But the chip is great. I didn't took the time, but it accelerates much better now. the top speed is nearly the same and it consumes 0.5 litre less than the oroginal motor. I didn't change anything else. Flo |

Thanks for the welcome! I will be upgrading the ECU in a couple of months - just enjoying the 'bog standard' for now! I had a conversation with a German cosworth engineer (they do work on Audi engines apparently?!) the other day. He recommended upgrading to 180 BHP, although he also agreed that the engine was capable of producing 200+ BHP without placing undue stress on it. His opinion was that the 180BHP upgrade was the best all rounder. Any thoughts?
