Default Testing

Started working on it last December, bought the two flat in January, it's been in my garage ever since. Spent a few hours in the last few weeks, and this weekend spent about 8.....all I can say it's going to be very, very nice!

Work previously completed:

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC07761.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC07786.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC07787.JPG">

There will be four shelves, two per outboard "cubbie", and six drawers, three per section inboard of the "cubbie", outboard of the radiator section...made the drawers previously, they will have solid maple fronts.

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC07767.JPG">

So here is where I'm at.....finished the fronts, finished the cubbies except for the shelves, sanded and put on 4 coats of poly on the inside of the cubbies, and two coats everywhere else on the inside to seal the thing....

It's covering two outlets on the wall, so that I put outlets on the furniture that I will hardwire in.....it also have four lights that dim at three levels for above each of the shelf sections, you can see the light switch under the front of it......just so you know, this thing is backwards and upside down now.....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00129.JPG">

The cubbie sides and back are in....the drawer section goes in the two middle sections.....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00131.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00132.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00133.JPG">

I'm wiring it up.....got lights that have a three setting dimmer power supply, the switch is just a static button.....Hampton Bay from Home Depot (I hate that store). The switch is the white thing, it will be just under the lip when flipped over.

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00136.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00135.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00127.JPG">

Here is the sister unit already installed at the other window......

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC07228.JPG">

It's almost done....just need to add the drawer fronts now, finish them and put the hardware on.

Total number of pieces of wood: 88

Probably about 100 biscuits used to join everything.

About 60 screws, 2 quarts of poly, and a few nails.

Power supply for lighting, has three voltage levels...

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00150.JPG">

Just plugging it into the wall for power.....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00155.JPG">

It's upside down, this is the bottom shelf....shimmed to perfection....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00165.JPG">

Lighting installed....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00168.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00174.JPG">

Flipped right side up for the first time in 9 months.....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00179.JPG">

Audi A4 for scale.....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00181.JPG">

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00186.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00189.JPG">

The drawers are installed, need to put the maple fronts on them now.....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00197.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00198.JPG">

Top is only two pieces....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00204.JPG">

Each side has outlets since I covered two of them up....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00206.JPG">

And behind the drawers it plugs into the wall....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00207.JPG">

And sister unit built last year on other window....

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC07228.JPG">

It came out very, very nice. With the drawer fronts on, the little nick nacks in it, it is stunning......

Just have two more things to do in the living room.....putting six 32" x 24" or so dark wood panels above the couch for a poor man's art project, don't have big money for a painting right now......

And a ceiling fan in the open circuit in the ceiling.....got to find a very cool one without a light.

Even finished the last two pieces of baseboard last night.

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00273.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00282.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00295.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00298.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00301.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00303.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00309.JPG">
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC00305.JPG">

BTW, here was the house before we bought it.....note radiator and window.......

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC02154.JPG">

And one during construction.....

Your talents and abilities obviously go well beyond your depth of knowledge of these oft-frustrating and occasionally goofy cars we own.

Default Roof

Let's just say by Thursday....I was dead tired and on Friday morning I didn't want to wake up.

Worked 9-12 hours a day....had four roofers working 12 hours a day for three days, and then three guys finished up the fourth day.

I hired a helper for me for the whole week, and he brought somebody else in for 1.5 days....oh so glad we did that.

So here are the pictures (if they don't load, hit refresh):

Default Re: Bedroom

After figuring out how to modify it....I modified most of it this afternoon, still have to get the side covers on and the supports for them. That will be tomorrow.

Built the front out 1 1/2" by facing it with 2x4's and 2x2's so it will be deep enough......took 2x4's out of the inside width to increase it by 3", then 1/2" plywood went in to reduce it to 2". Added 2x's on the outside to increase the outside width by 3" so it maintains proportion. It will be perfect, approximately 1" all the way around the TV after the finish bamboo goes in. It looks over the top cool, you don't get how big it is and how nice it looks from the pictures. It's 48" wide.

Default Re: Bedroom

I really miss the purple walls and the purple carpet too!

Start Friday afternoon, then table saw breaks and I need a new belt pulley. Procure it Saturday, fight with it to get it on....then Saturday afternoon I finish the wood on the walls, then Sunday I install and trim the storage cabinets.

They will have custom made curtains in front of them.

From last week:

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC_8596.JPG">

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/house/sm_DSC_8622.JPG">

Then this weekend.

Shim blocks to secure the cabinets to.
