Default Silicone vacuum hose replacements from hose techniques

This has come up a few times recently so I
checked the sizes of the hoses I used on
my car. I've sized them by eyeballing the size
of the stock part and matching with a silicone
replacement. In some cases I've used a smaller
size for a better fit. Note that some of the
hoses do have different inner diameters on each
end, like the DV line, I haven't done anything
to duplicate that. This all seems to work ok on
my car but YMMV.

As you can see I've used mainly the 3.5mm, 6mm
and 8mm. The 4mm was a bit too loose and it has
thinner walls than the 3.5mm hose so it's more
prone to collapse and pinching. I've replaced
the one time use clamps that held the factory
hoses with the supplied zip ties, including the
hoses that terminate under the intake manifold.
I've reused the squeeze clamps where I could.

Most of the factory hoses I could pull off after
getting a small screwdriver underneath to free
them but on some they were stuck on and I needed
to cut them off with a razor blade. It's actually
a pretty fun and inexpensive project.

(please excuse the crappy picture)

Default Wow, thanks!

Would a stocker vary too much without the DV relo?

Default You'd route the DV line differently but it should be the same diameter.

Default I've got a couple more 8mm hoses

to replace and I've run out of the silicone stuff. However one of them is a longer coolant return line and I don't really need to replace that one (when it leaks, it'll be apparent . If I hadn't done the coolant return lines on the left side of the engine I would have had enough for all of the vacuum lines.

Default I was going to buy the hose techniques kit last night, but then I remembered Steve's post

with a different supplier for silicon hose here which is a little less expensive.

How do you feel that 4mm was a bit too loose? Do you not feel comfortable using it because it is soo loose and thin? I wish this place had 3.5mm.

BTW thanks for the excellent illustration!

Take care,
