I bought my car with a front plate installed, Michigan does not require one so i wanted ot get rid of it.
Step 1: Remove the screws holding the plate to the bracket. ![]() Step 2: Drill out the rivets holding the bracket to the filler panel. Drill just enough so the tops pop off. ![]() Step 3: Now that the bracket is gone the filler panel needs to be removed (because it has some nasty holes in it.) It is held in place by 12 tabs. ![]() Step 4: Now you have to replace this filler panel. The part number is BN0807285. It runs $105 unpainted from my local part dept. You could also call Claire Parts and get it for a hell of a lot less (800)354-5100. ![]() Bondo the panel instead: Bondo is pretty easy and given the size of the holes its a good place to start.

go to Lowe's, and you'll find small plastic plugs that fit those holes perfectly. you can paint the plugs so that they're barely noticeable!
