Default Considering a 2004 A4 with an Ultra Sport Pkg?

Hey guys I currently have a 2001.5 A4 1.8T QMS, but it has kind of had a lot of problems (bought it used). So I am considering pulling the tigger on a new 2004 A4 with the Ultra Sport Pkg. However, I am in debate about which engine to get the 3.0L or the 1.8T. Normally I would lean towards the 1.8T, but I here a lot of rumors about the 1.8T becoming a 190hp engine instead of 170hp. Is there any truth to that? The last thing I want is to buy a 170hp, and next year they come out with the 190hp 1.8T.

So bascily what I am asking is if you had the choice would you buy a 3.0L or the 1.8T? Please keep in mind that if I buy this car I won't have much money for mods. So the 1.8T performance upgradability is not as important. I mainly want a solid everyday car.

Thanks!

Default well that's a no-brainer

but i don't understand... if he can afford the 3.0, can't he also afford a 1.8t with mods? but like you said, with no plans for mods, you gotta go with the 3.0.
