Default i was planning to do those on my tt, but ...

there's a problem with the reverse-lip design that causes water to collect inside the rim when driving in the rain, causing the wheels to become horribly unbalanced and making driving very difficult. this isn't an issue for my m3 since i only drive that car in good weather, but the tt is built for the rain and it seems a shame to hamper it like that.

if you decide to go ahead anyway, go with brushed aluminum, it looks much better. it's also another $200 a rim or so. also, make sure you've worked out offsets and widths.

Default They aren't in my budget either...

But since my wheel shop is on the hook for about $2200 of it, I've got to do it

Default yeah I found that discussion

I'll talk with Peter tomorrow about it. I'll be leaning on him heavily to get the correct offsets. I'm somewhat concerned about this rain issue. I'll sleep on it.

Default do you want a staggered setup? tell me your widths ...

i'll tell you the offsets i'd recommend.

but seriously, the water issue is a big deal. even with a big discount, these are serious bucks.

Default I was thinking of a staggered setup, but

Peter was quick to say that he would not provide one. While it would be nice, I'm stretching my mod budget as it is, and I already have a set of tires waiting. So rather than have to get another two wheels, I'll just go 18 x 8.5 and forgo the 10 in the rear.

I do plan a brake upgrade in the near future. My main concern is that the wheels sit flush with the fenders, similar to my sportec's with the 10mm & 15mm spacers front and rear. I cringe every time I look at my stock wheels (which are on now).

Default got it ...

why 18"? anyway, for 8.5" i'm running ET17 rear:

... and ET20 front:

and it's pretty flush. ideally, i think i'd bring out the rear offset another millimeter or two for aesthetics (e.g., ET16), and tuck in the front offset a millimeter or two (e.g., ET22) to reduce any rubbing risks (ET25, the stock lm offset, will definitely not rub on you).
