Default Euro-plate installed :-)

First let me thank everyone who contributed in yesterday's post about questions on the install of the euro-sized front license plate.

I ended up drilling 4 holes in the bumper skin (behind the stock licence cover/insert the car comes with) and screwing in the black plastic license frame that the plate shipped with.

If you look at the pictures below, it doesn't seem to stick out too bad or to change the TT's front lines so much:

And here's a picture of the rear personalized plate:

Now all I have to do is find a nice license plate frame for the rear standard-sized California plate.

Any suggestions?

-Marc

Default You don't have to have matching front plates in Cali?

I know not every state requires you to mount plates to the front of the vehicle in addition to the rear, but I thought California was one of them. I suppose it's all relative. Looks great by the way!!

Default Technically, yes..

But until I get pulled over and get reprimended for not have the "standard US size" front plate, I won't destroy the flush look with a silly CA plate. As for parking in SF, I'll follow CWK_Marin's recommendation and get another plate cover & screw the CA plate on it.

Default Looks great!

The Euro plates are a much better look if you have to display front and back - easier to read too and you'd think that would make it more allowable so long as the no's were the real plate. I'll be sure to honk next time I see a fellow SF TT 3.2'r.

Default Rear Plate surround

I like the Audi Sport brushed aluminum plate frame from Audi. In your case you might want the black version because you have a black surround on your European front plate.

Default No reprimand--ticket is $271.

I have a friend who got pulled over in his GTI in SF for front plate only, no speeding. The ticket was $271--same as for being in the diamond lane...
