I've tried to lube the suspension to no avail.
Let's put it this way--I haven't taken a non-essential drive in the TT for about 5 months. It's no fun to drive with this bull$hit.

The passanger side seatbelt... if the belt is not pull taut the buckle randomly bumped into my side panel. In my case it made the noises at low speeds (city driving) cuz of accel/decel.
It drove me crazy for about a week...hope that is the solution for you guys.

if it is not that, I would check the upper mount on that shock, it is a rubber disc that may have worn out. BTW, just as a precautionary, did you check all the stuff under the rear hatch-spare/tools?. I bet you did but just in case...

My thoughts - I have the same noise from the rear seat in my TT-225; The TT-225 has an inverted "U" gas tank. Because of this design the fuel level in each half must be equalized to give an accurate reading for the fuel gauge. Audi placed a pump to equalize the tank. The thumping noise is the pump. It should only thump 4-5 times and then it will shut off. I read this before on other postings (not sure where). Hope this helps.
