Sorry to bring it up again, cos I don't understand all the fuss about CAI vs. Warm AI(WAI) vs. Hot AI(HAI) even..
I thought whatever the temperature of the air that goes into your air intake will get heated up by the compression of the turbo (to some high turbo temp?) and cooled by the intercooler so how does sucking in warm air vs cold air differ for a cone intake?? TIA |

cooling needs to take place post turbo, hence the fmic/smic. This is some data points of ambient temps vs. manifold/intake temps. I requested more data from others, but no one really responded. Oh well. Btw, I got 245 g/s max on my custom open intake. The only reason I switched to the BMC is because someone gave it to me for free.
The design of the air element is more important to allow MORE air in, vs. if it were enclosed or not. ![]() Here's a little write up of my thoughts

and the reason why I have a HAI instead of CAI is cos it rains here often and I don't want the car to suck in water...

..The cooler the incoming air, the denser the "fuel charge" into the engine will be- A few degrees difference can make as much as a 7% difference in the power output- At this altitude (Denver) with a relatively "small" 1.8 litre engine, cold air makes a HELLUVA difference...
