Default westach gauges, gauge pod,

been a long time since i posted anything technical on here. for those who remember me, my car has been fairly dormant these past 4 months due to work and travel. car runnin strong at 1.5bar to redline, still no benchmark dyno or tuning, nor have i done the MAF clamp. oh well.

finally got my gauge pod in, 6 months later.

gauges are Westach. left is FMIC in/out temp, right is oil/water temp. havent plumbed the coolant temp sensor yet.

i'm not the first one from this forum to use these gauges, i think jazzitt was. looks nice at night though.

oil temp sensor. bought an extra drain plug, put a .250" thru-hole and an 1/8 NPT tap and worked like a charm.

IC temp sensor. simple delrin mount piece, tapped the end tanks (yes, of couse i cleaned the chips out), simple silicone gasket.

driving: the FMIC out temps stay pinned below 100F, havent gotten them any higher, although i havent given it high-boost for long durations yet. i can get the FMIC in temps up around 175F if i go WOT thru a few gears.

never put a pic up of my unorthodox underdrive pulleys. feedback? no noticeable difference. but my butt dyno is kinda skewed by the big turbo. the pulley diams are a bit different, if i remember correctly, so the power-steering is slightly underdriven and the coolant pump is overdriven? something like that. coupled with my new coolant pump (metal impeller), my engine temps stay cool.

Default you seriously have one of the coolest TT's ever...

oh, and westach gauges are known to be incredibly accurate given that they're intended for aircrafts if i'm not mistaken...

Default luckily i didnt have to do any research on the westachs

i took one look at his and knew they were what i wanted!

i think i'm going to order another pair of air temp sensors, so i can monitor intake and manifold temps too. then we can really compare our numbers. i'll have to pull the manifold to tap it, so maybe i'll pull the phenolic spacer and run some temp numbers on that too... then again.. that sounds like a pain in the arse. hahaha. dunno how all you workin folk put in so many hours on your cars. after a 60hr week my weekends need to be spent being lazy!

Default LOL...!...>>

I just got a couple more digital temp gauges. I'll either do some switching, using multiple probes or plumb a few more in. Realtime Manifold temps would be good. defineitely do the phenolics while you're in there....:-)

Default Re: westach gauges, gauge pod,

Some nice work guy. Your problems will help me a lot. Am thinking of doing Turbo upgrade. Would like over 300 HP. Keep up the post.
