got everything up, was trouble-shooting an exhaust leak around the turbo all morning, tightening up stuff, etc. isolated the leak to the downpipe, so i tightened down the nuts... too tight. lesson learned: if you are really cranking down on things, use a torque wrench.
so one of the studs is stuck in the turbine housing with a broken head. which means EVERYthing has to come off again, sadly. i'm gonna make sure this never happens again, gonna order some ARP studs. anyway, sh!t happens, but i'm pretty bummed about the whole ordeal. called it quits after that, no point in working while pissed off. up to bat again tomorrow. not gonna touch the turbo again until tuesday up at Tomas sport tuning. Too much of a pain to do this again without a lift. |

at least i got to drive around a bit. a little exhaust leak never hurt anybody =) definitely spools up faster, but i didnt get to do a full test because a) the front end was still off and i didnt wanna drive on the highway like that and b) there is some strange clicking sound when i load the engine... gotta find that crap.
as eminem would say, "its back to the lab again yo" |
