but the "S" in SUV stands for Sports. These SUVs..not station wagons.. will lift the bar to the point where the other manufacturers will have to do something special to compete. And that can only be a good thing. Whether or not you like the look of the vehicle is a purely subjective thing...surprisingly enough a lot of people don't like the look of the TT either.

Had the same thoughts myself, Michael. ;-) DOA. Gonna be tough to get development and tooling costs out of it probably.

... true, it was a Board of Director decision - but 996s do not generate enough profit alone to float the boat, one reason for the 986. It was ironic to read Harm Lagaay (necessarily) defending it when talking about it's development in a recent magazine. Let's just say their true feelings were close to yours. Last dealer report I heard, Cayenne orders at only a tenth of the 986.

quattro and become more of a soft-roader. It will be lighter and larger than both the Cayenne and the Touareg. If anyone should have built something like that you'd have thought it would have been Porsche.........
