![]() here is a stock 180 quattro (Large images are here) ![]() here are a few of the runs from tonight. popped in ECS's adjustable FPR. probably running it around 4, 4.5bar (gotta get a gauge). run 009RO is at 15psi, 008RO is at 14psi, run 001RO is my car before turbo conversion (w/APR, 2.5" DP, exhaust, TIP, etc). i'm running 360cc/min 225TT injectors right now. even at only 15psi and at 4+bar fuelrail you can see i'm starting to lean out at high RPMs. the rich section between 4~5.5KRPMs can be tuned out eventually. boostcontroller can be tuned to be a bit sharper too. driving it around at 15psi, i could feel the downpipe was creating a bit too much backpressure. the turbine exit is around 2.25", and my current DP slowly transitions up to 3" throughout a U-bend towards the gap between the axle and subframe heatshield. gonna try and remake that with a 2.5"->3" transition right off the turbine and 3" the rest of the way. also gonna tap the exh manifold to mount the EGT sensor. a necessity for tuning so i know if i'm about to melt some valves =) also on for tmrw is the wastegate dump pipe into the DP. and a second inline fuel pump too. then back to the dyno tomorrow night. probably going to throw in some 440 or 520cc injectors too, although they dont have the same catered spray pattern as the bosch ones... but what the heck, i've got supplemental insurance <<AFFFLALAAACCCK>!!! another note: the MAF reading on the 4" pipe was too low. in order to get a stable idle (~15% of 5V MAF reading) at 600 RPMs, the baseline values would have to be quadrupled... which wouldn't leave enough room for accurate tuning. basically means i'm going to have to mess around adding a snorkel type nozzle to accelerate air to the sensor.... HOPEfully that'll work. might get to that tmrw (proly just lasercut something outta acrylic). if not... well hey, it runs quite fine right now without the damn MAF anyway!! all in all, the outcome is not too surprising. full boost (15psi) happens around 4500RPM, but boost tangibly kicks in (butt dyno) around 3500RPM. new DP should lower those a bit more. sharper WG actuation via boostcontroller will help out with the flat HP section too... i can't imagine eventually turning this baby up to ~25psi. i know it hits 20psi well before 5000RPM. anyway, more tmrw. looking back at the begining of the summer, i remmeber hoping to get this whole deal done in a week or two. lol. come a long way since then... |
