what got finished up today (and last night at my machine shop):
![]() SS wastegate bracket (acrylic prototype on left). ![]() auto tech(?) dogbone motor mounts ![]() 4" MAF housing. thin-wall aluminum is a B1TCH to weld... glad i didnt have to do it =) tomorrow: HKS SSQ BOV (won't route it as a DV just yet), Profec-B boost controller. and gotta figure out house keeping stuff like rerouting the powersteering hoses, heater hoses, then plug in the oil and coolant feeds to the turbo. HOPEfully, this (currently) 0hp car will finally run again... oh yah, turns out the compressor map ATP gave me wasn't for my turbo. gotta ring Garrett up and get the right one. but for those who are interested, here are my turbo specs: Garrett T30R Compressor: 0.70 A/R, 56 trim, T04S housing, 2.25/3.0" in/exh diameter, 55 lbs/min max flow Turbine: 0.63 A/R, 84 trim, 2.16/2.36" in/exh diam All new pics here |

A while ago, you had posted that you picked up a Mercedes rear view mirror with auto-dimming capabilities. Did you ever get around to installing it? How did it work out? Sorry if you have already posted this, but I obviously missed it. This is by far the most annoying things in the car at night - especially with the abundance of SUV's around here. It is something I am really looking to do, the only other one I had considered was the S4 mirror with the built in compass. Let me know how it went. TIA!

cluttering my cabin and trunk.
the deal was, i could obtain them for $170. that made it hard to say no. unforunately, i was blinded by the price and didn't properly do my research. the mirror attaches to a base (which is glued to the windshield) using a clip. what i found out later is that the base comes glued to the windshield straight from the factory. so in order to get another base, i have to find a junked SLK and remove the mount base! i havent even looked at the windshield in months. but i think it might be easier to just machine a base myself, once i get around to designing one. but iu'll keep you posted. right now, getting this baby driveable again is top priority =) |
