Default Steve Matchett on the speed of time - Another Year...Gone

Montjean, France, Dec. 27

Another year... gone. Gone in the blink of an eye. As one grows older, the rate at which the grains of sand slip through the hourglass increases at an ever more alarming pace. As a boy, I distinctly remember the summer holidays being endless: Each day an age, decades separated lunchtime from suppertime. In one single sunny afternoon, entire adventures would happen; long outward journeys into the depths of the woods, make-believe battles fought and won, and walking back through head-high bracken we'd triumphantly return to a king's banquet of beans on toast and beakers of orange squash.

After tea had been wolfed down, there was a whole evening of Star Trek and Doctor Who to watch on the telly and magical trips to Narnia and Wonderland to read of before finally bedtime arrived, at the lush hour of 8:30 p.m. Yet, even this wasn't the end - once in bed, listening for Kojak's siren through the floorboards, we'd whisper plans for the following day's escapade: An ancient pram had been discovered entangled in thick brambles, the wheels of which were crying out to become part of a kart - all we needed was a few planks and a length of washing line to steer the thing... and we'd be off, blasting down the hill at a thousand miles an hour! But we had to endure an eternity of waiting before all that could happen; morning couldn't come soon enough. Now, however, with the lamentable loss of one's childhood, a click of the fingers and 24 hours instantly vanish: Wake, work, dinner, bed, day done. How long did that take?

Default Is there any doctor besides Tom Baker worth mentioning?

I know he's the doctor I always think of when I think of Doctor Who.
