For all of you home theater people out there, check out the new Marantz RC5200 remote. All of the benefits of the prior Pronto-types plus more hard keys (cursor pad, enter, exit) to program, more usable area on the screen, and best of all....
built-in RF extender for use with the optional RF base unit. I replaced my RC5000i and it finally solves most of my issues with the prior model. |

1. Since it works with RF does that mean I can control my X10 devices with it?
2. I am looking for a remote that will learn macros and let me just push my "DVD" button (per say) and then it will turn on the DVD, turn on the Receiver, turn on the TV, set the tv to the right input, set the receiver to the right input and then I am ready to go. And I don't want to have to hold the remote up there for 5 minutes while it does this.. will this one do that? |

1. The remote communicates with a base station via RF but does not transmit RF remote signals, per se, so it won't control X-10 via RF. You can, however, get an X-10 IR receiver and use this remote to send X-10 IR commands instead (via its RF base link).
2. Yes. That's one of this remote's strengths. You program all your remote button codes and then string them together in the macro. For ex: Macro "Watch a DVD" can turn on the DVD player, turn on the receiver, set the receiver to DVD input, turn on the TV and then flip the remote's lcd screen to the dvd controller page for futher use. Keep in mind that unless you have discrete codes for your devices (DVD on vs. DVD off) then it will simply send a power command that might turn something off rather than on. Tons of codes for the Pronto line (which this belongs to) are available at http://www.remotecentral.com. -Scott |

The RC5200 (and color 9200) have a 4-way control disc with more hard keys that can be programmed. The Pronto Pro only has 4 "softkeys" under the screen (plus the vol, ch, mute keys).
IOW, the Marantz versions have more physical buttons and the pervasive navigation disc! |
