Default Re: Will 235/45-17 tires work on 17x8 rims on the TT?

I'm currently running that size on stock 17" rims with Dunlop SP Sport 5000s. Yes, they have a higher sidewall. However, I haven't had any problems in the past 6500 mi. since I got them. The tires fill the wheelwells perfect and I don't plan on lowering the car.

I'm running 235/40x17's on 17x8.5 ET35, they're 0.6" shorter than stocks so the speedo runs just a bit high but the net is like changing the final drive so it's actually faster off the line (albeit minimally). I've got Eibach Pro-Kit springs that lower only 7/8" and there is no problem with rubbing.

Default Well this is partially true...best to check with each manufacturers specs. I have found they vary...

from one to the other.

BTW, I'm running Dunlop 8000 235.45.17's on the front (17 x 8) and 245.45.17 on 17 x 9's rear.

These are 25.5 & 25.7 in diameter.

Default Either/both/neither - consider this....

There is at least 1/2 inch difference in outside diameter between new tyres and worn tyres.

Not to mention differences related to variuos pressures people inflate the tyres to.

So, the 0.1 inch diff between 205/55-16 and 225/45-17 is really of no consequence in the scheme of things.

Default Got 'em (235x45x17) -- SP5000's -- stock rims -- work just fine.
