I think it is fine if a person wants to use a cloth to open a door, or devise creative ways to avoid fingerprints on the handle, hood or truck. I just don't wish to do the same. I wash my cars regularly, service them as needed, fix obvious damage, etc. And when I trade them in, they always seem to be in better condition than most. I mostly drive my TT outside, so it gets dirty no matter what. (Even in the garage, it gets dusty. and I've noticed that too frequent cleaning can actually be a cause of wear too!) Anyhow...am I a freakin' TT anamoly, or are there other people who love their TTs, but choose to handle them without putting on kid gloves first? Just wondering.

Whew...I've been feeling guilty for not Zaino'ing my car yet--4 weeks after I got it.
I, too, tend to drive outside, and was worried that it was contributing to the imminent demise of my car. Thanks for putting my mind at rest. |

I'm not even all that obsessive, even though I try not to get fingerprints all over it. It's just that my TT is about the coolest thing I've ever owned and I want to enjoy the feeling I get from owning it. The nice thing about this group is that we are all free to enjoy our cars as we please. Oh wait, except for Ebb.

All of us who post regularly on this forum obviously do so because we feel our little ideas and techniques for keeping our TT's in tip-top shape will be of interest to the others.
No one here pushes anyone else to do anything they don't want to, nor would they. Nor do we admonish others who differ from one method/product or another, and when we do, it's always in good fun (at least it is with me). So, I suggest that you take what you want from the forum, leave the rest alone, and don't get caught up in too much else. Everyone on this forum gets out of it what they want, it's that simple. I'm sure others are like myself, who also feel a need to contribute in some way, however small. Are we fanatics? Sure. Anal? If you wish. But certainly we're an open group of people who share a common interest in what we consider to be a pinnacle of automotive design and execution, and that definition probably fits almost any car club dedicated to any single model of car. We feel passionately enough to discuss minutiae of care care ad nauseum, but hey, if you don't like the song, change the station. You should never feel inferior or unworthy of being on this forum because your level of fanaticism does not match others, and I certainly don't know where you might have gotten that impression from us. Now, go wash your car with distilled Evian, and use q-tips dipped in Lexol to clean inside the air-contitioner vents, and while your at it, try Zymol on one side of your Bailey valve and Zaino on the other half, and then... :-)
