Default LarryTT - Hardwired Radar Detector

Larry .. do you know what fuses are switched off/on by the ignition ?

My detector is a pain in the butt to manually turn off/on.

Regards

Default Fuse 8. That is the fuse we all use.

Default Take out the screws in the fuse box and remove the lower half of the dash, then you will see(LONG)

around the dead pedal area, but up in the dash 4 power connectors with bolts. 3 red and 1 yellow. The yellow is the switched power location(on with key only). It is the best location for this purpose(or anything else that is switched) the V1 has an inline fuse, make sure the GPS does also on the power wire. You will find a ground location(look for several brown wires going into one place) around the lower portion of the steering column. I then mounted the power distrubtion block for the power cables and rj-11 cables on top of the BACK side of the fuse box. Totally neat, out of the way and looks completly stock.

As for the concealed display(This is for Alan), the next step after the dash is to unscrew the two screws holding in the instrument cluster. Remove this and put a piece of velco on the little grille that does nothing, then pinch the rj-11 cable with about 1.5 inches sticking out when you replace the instrument cluster. The velcro and the cable will hold the concealed display in place. Just move it around to get the angle you need depending on your height and seat level.

Test out the V1 to make sure it's working and then put everything back!
