Rear door light switch???

Hi everyone

I have a question, does anyone know how the door switches work, one of the rear doors does not operate the interior lights fully when opened on my 1997 S8. The foot well light doesn't come on and the interior light pulse, (this is intermittent, it works occasionally). The other doors work OK.

I thought it would be the switch, but there isn't one! I guess it is in the door lock mechanism, but to save me taking everything apart can anyone help.

I have the same problem on my '97, except that mine doesn't work intermediately. There has been quite a few discussions about this same topic here so you might want to do a search to research the solution.

From memory, I beleive the "contact Point" to turn the light on is in the actual latch portion in the door - a traditional "plunger type" switch. My recommendation would be to pull the latch assembly from the JAMB side of the door and see if the electrical comnnection is broker or corroded. Good luck and keep us posted on your fix. Yes, we've discussed this a few times before, mine has the same problem. The switch is in the door latch mechanism, the Bently states that the whole latch mechanism has to be replaced, but I'm not sure. Here's a few pictures:
