My GF bought her last A4 using the premier purchase plan. Let's see, at the end of the term (3 years) she had 0 equity and the buyout was something like 17K for a 99 A4 (1 year ago). If you like to pay a lot for interest, then go for it. You pay interest on the portion of the car that you don't use during the term for the entire term. It's just like a lease. She didn't build any equity in her car, therefore, had to take 7K out of her savings for the down payment on the 03 A4. She purchased it outright and took out a loan for the balance (from Audi at 5.9%). When it's paid for, it will probably be worth 15K-17K.....not a bad down payment for a BMW X5 or Paul's choice: a Porsche Cayene. Wouldn't an A8 and a Porsche Cayene in the same garage look nice? Buy the car if you can, it's a lot cheaper than leasing or premier purchase if paying for it yourself. pw

..when I was racking up miles as a sales rep several years ago the lease was a better deal when I filed for fed and state taxes.
The portion or the lease payment was tax deductable, in direct prrportion the the % of mileage that was business use. I only drove my leased car for work, so 95% the expense, rent (payment), insurance, gas, oil changes, etc.. was tax deductable. The other 5% was a commute to and from work. Check on rec ent tax applications if you use the car for lots of business mileage. |
