Hi there. Finally got my A8 (after years of saving and with the blessing of new wife).
Very happy until this morning..... (didn't expect my first post to be so soon). I read a post some time back about a faulty key causing the engine to 'die' after starting. I had the same problem (once) but car seemed after re-trying the key. Now the same thing has happened while on the move - the engine just died. Steering went dead (very dead) and car ground to a halt. All instrument lights were working. Put drive in 'P', turned everything off, then restarted the engine. Continued driving to work, then same thing happened again. Car is now parked up. If this had happened at speed on a corner, I wouldn't have been able to straighten the car up - the wheel almost feels locked. i will be taking the car to the dealers later, but wondered if anyone else had experienced anything like this ?? I only have one key for the car (spare and a remote have been ordered) but I am worried it's something more serious. Wife will tell me we should have bought a Hyundai if I can't sort this quickl;y, and cheaply ! Thoughts/suggestions/compassion much appreciated

I had the same thing happen to me while driving. Turned out to be positive battery connection. Just had to tighten the battery post connection.
