I replaced the rear door speakers after one had gone bad (nasty squeak) I used the write-up
from Bach and a little BD insight. I took a few pictures of my own along the way.
1) there are two (2) screws on the upper corners of the panel near the window frame that first have to be removed. These pictures are after the screws were removed.

Simply; yet with some force; lift the panel up. There are 7 guides on the panel that hold it against the door. 2 on either edge. 2 on the bottom and one in the middle. Be careful there are 3 connectors and a handle cable attached to the panel still. The guides look like this.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/67177/panel_hook.jpg">
And are slotted thru the door. It's the rectangular opening in the metal with the wires visible thru it. There is a rubber stop on the bottom.

I first removed the hook and white plastic mount from the panel that connect the door handle to it's mechanism.

This is the were the white piece of the cable is snapped in.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/67177/gdesltinpanel.jpg">
I then removed the window switch. There is a small hole in the handle under the switch. With a screwdriver or such and push up on the front end of the switch. It rocks front to back and is keyed in the back so install it the opposite way. Remove the connector and pull the cable and foam grommet from the panel.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/67177/wndswchwconnector.jpg">
Lastly there are 2 connectors down by the speaker that must be disconnected and pulled thru the foam insulation before the panel is free from the door. This picture is with the speaker already removed. I had done it a few weeks early as the noise was very annoying.

Here is the panel with the new speaker installed. These were the Audax speakers after modification as documented by Bach.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/67177/img_1082.jpg">
Reinstalling the panel was a little tricky. As others have stated the lock pin is a PIA. I found that I had decent success when I Installed that side first. I reached my fingers around the panel to guide the lock to the hole as I pushed in and down. I concentrated on that one side and the middle first (at the same time) and then when the pin was centered up in the hole enough I went to the other side and aligned the hooks in and down. With a little force I used my hand to hit the panel down (at the edge near the window) and worked each side until the screw holes were aligned, It took a few tries.
Sorry some of the pictures were blurry. In my quest to show detail I lost the focus.
Oh yes the speakers really do sound better, more mid/base.

From your tone :-), I guess it wasn't necessary? I thought the cable went into the door so in order
to remove the panel the connector had to come off the back of the switch or am I incorrect?

Tone? There is no tone in words typed on the internet. I've never removed window switches..
even while working on things like that.
You should be able to unplug it without removing the switch from the door.. But then again, I've not had the need to replace rear speakers yet..
Doesn't the harness also connect in the door somewhere?
