Default Fair enough - I can leave it at that...

I would like to say, Erik, that I have owned MB's, BMW's, Hondas, and many Audi's or course, and that I've done research on this topic.

Regards and no hard feelings,
Bob

Default This is hardly a valid sample...

You have your anecdotal experience, I have mine. My Porsche mechanic friends (one w/ an indep. for years, the other a former tech at a Porsche/Audi dealer) both say the current A4 is very reliable. My service advisor, who I knew via the PCA for years before I bought an Audi, says that the problems are there but the numbers, RELATIVE to the number of cars sold, are not excessive.

My previous car was a '94 MB C280: 26 warranty repairs in 5 yrs.: my A4 is nowhere near that. I don't question your experience or opinion, but let's not start making broad statements based on miniscule samples.

Default It is a valid for COMMON FAILURES - I did not ask 100 people if their A4 is OK or not...

I asked people with problems what their problems are and these are the COMMON PROBLEMS. Understand? My mechanic deals with many more Audi owners with problems. And people WITH PROBLEMS, fall into this list of COMMON PROBLEMS.

Default Actually considering that 100 random owners with problems had these problems is most...

interesting. Control arms, high oil consumption, valve rap... these are the typical problems that A4 owners, THAT HAVE PROBLEMS, have. I am not saying that most or many A4's are pieces of junk.

I also have a problem with the front passenger speaker and the dealership ignores it (4 times now). It makes a deafening static soung when it is damp outside. They tell me unless they can duplicate it they can't fix it. Bull....
