This is an '01 2.7t.
A couple of weeks ago noticed an oil smell as I walked past the car after shutting down. No oil on the driveway. I had my guys check it out yesterday during a routine service. They indicated the culpret are the cam tensioner flange seals. $550 P & L to repair. Motor has 97,000 on it. Should I have this repaired when I go in for the timing belt at 105,000? Can I save some bucks by combining the work? Any other issues? thanks |

BTW, congrats on having the balls to go all the way to 105k. Most folks do the belt at 90k. Good luck!

Yeah, that's what I thought. I'll have my shop re-quote the work and have it all done at the same time as timing belt/water pump...

at 2 hours per side plus a couple of bucks for tensioner gaskets, $300 is fair for this job.
Or DIY.
