Strange "Blinker Fluid" problem...

My turn signals have started acting strangely. I mover the stalk to turn left or right and the blinker flashes a few times (1 to 8-ish times random) and then stops. If I manually return the stalk to center and then up (or down) again, it blinks a few more times and stops again.

I assume it's the relay - is this common? I haven't had a chance to VAG it yet (travelling a lot at the moment) and was wondering if anyone had any BTDT's on this? Could it be something other than the relay?

contacts allowed it to function properly, and quietly. This involves dis-assembling the relay..

Kris Hansen Chief of Goat control Account #: 20 Join Date: Oct 2000 Posts: 66,548,190	I finally managed to fix my dead blinker.. I found that a bit of dielectric grease applied to the... contacts allowed it to function properly, and quietly. This involves dis-assembling the relay..
