Default Strange "Blinker Fluid" problem...

My turn signals have started acting strangely. I mover the stalk to turn left or right and the blinker flashes a few times (1 to 8-ish times random) and then stops. If I manually return the stalk to center and then up (or down) again, it blinks a few more times and stops again.

I assume it's the relay - is this common? I haven't had a chance to VAG it yet (travelling a lot at the moment) and was wondering if anyone had any BTDT's on this? Could it be something other than the relay?

Default When you say "relay" do you mean the "flasher"? If so, that's probably it.Otherwise, fluid for sure.

Default You need a new relay. $30 - $35 part, easy DIY.

Default Just replaced the relay last week. Same symptoms. Check the archives for a good writeup...

Easy swap of $36 part.

Default I finally managed to fix my dead blinker.. I found that a bit of dielectric grease applied to the...

contacts allowed it to function properly, and quietly. This involves dis-assembling the relay..

Default It does... a little higher in pitch and a bit softer, I believe.
