Default Tire size - 2001 A6Q 2.8 w 205/55HR16

Is anyone else having problems keeping all season tire on this year and model? I am strongly considering replacing the stock tire size with 225/50HR16 tires. Here's why. The original tires (Goodyear) were replaced at 35000 miles. Completly shot. Installed Nokian WR's fantastic all weather tires, but with only 18000 miles they have cupped on both inside and outside surface front and rear. Same as Goodyear. Yes, I keep the pressure correct, rotate at 3000 miles, and the alignment is perfect. Have talked to several tire dealers who feel the tire is to small for the weight of this car. Trouble is the tire dealers are reluctant to replace with 225/50's because Audi will not sanction the change. Audi's excuse - clearence!

Default Just replaced my 205/55s with 225/50s. No problem with fitment, since it's a "plus zero" upgrade...

BTW, 35k on the Goodyears seems like reasonable wear to me. Go to an independent shop to put the tires on.

Default I just replaced mine with 215/55HR16's because I also

believe that the 205's are too small. I have only had them for 5 days so I can't report on the wear characteristics.
