Default Audi Car Smellers.

The Sunday NY Times magazine had a picture and little story about two woman who are actually car smellers for Audi. They have to sit in new Audis and smell them to make sure the odors are mild and inoffensive. I hope they don't have to smell the seats on used cars as well. Tough job.

Default Ugh, most older used cars are toxic :-(

The nice ones usually get sold via private party. We'd get the ones with indeterminate grey sticky gum on the steering wheel, seats teeming with crumbs from meals long ago ( and a few fossilized french fries seen between the seats ), broken window cranks, smeared window glass you can barely see out of at night, shift linkage so loose and vague that trying to engage a gear is merely a possiblity - not a guarantee, rattling suspension, and wheezing engine that only reluctantly revs to 4000rpms amid noises that sound terminal.

You'd climb out of them after a test drive or parking them on the back auction lot, and then proceed to scrub down all exposed skin, and take the clothes to the cleaners on the way home.

All the while the customer is insisting the car is worth every penny of blue book, and only needs a little spiffing up ;-)
