Default Correction: 2002+ A6 and S6's have bi-Xenon which are "halogen" assisted.

In the 2002+ model years (including the S6) the OEM xenon's use [what we call bi-xenon]. In the optics/projector inside the headlight housing, there is a metal horizontal "rudder" that reflects the Xenon light from low-beam to high-beam. This rudder looks something like the eyelids on that robot in the movie: Short Circuit.

The bi-xenon option uses halogen to "assist" in filling out the high-beam pattern. Remember folks, the light pattern for the low and high beams are entirely different. This is also true for daytime running lights (DRLs).

In 1998-2001, the xenon's are only low beam. When I use my xenon lows and then flash my highs, the lows stay lit. When you use the high beams in conjuction with halogen lows, the lows are switched off.

Also, the 2002+ Xenon's use a larger 90MM projector lens. Pre-2002 (like mine) use a 60MM lens. Both are made by Hella for the A6.

Bottom line: Any Xenon light is best run in a constant manner vs. having random power surges.
This is why Xenon's bulbs have a useful life of 5+ years. Halogens are more prone to fluctuations in temperature, vibration etc.
I only know this from researching my Xenon upgrade options on the Philips Automotive Lighting Forums.

I hope this helps.

Default Apparently there is a way to reconfigure the auto-leveling motors with the VAG tool.....

Someone on the TT forum posted the process.

Of course, you need the VAG Tool, a laptop and the associated software to make this happen. $150+ should cover it.

Go to Ross-Tech.com to purchase this.

Good luck!!!
