Default Stoney - Help!!! Just tried the TIP recode with the same result - The software code...

read 00000 and will not seem to accept any other code. BTW - The workshop code also has 00000 as its number. Looking at the other functions such as engine or radio, they all show software and workshop numbers other 00000.

What do you think?

Default List here the year (or half-year) and model of your car, and see if others have tried. ...

And, I've emailed you.

Default If I read AUJ's messag correctly, ...

There may be two things to try. One is to connect using VAG-com and see what your serial number is on the Transmission screen. I think that is where you would find it. If it doesn't end in DG, he says it may not work at all.

Second, at least with "old VAG-com software" (latest is 0.81 I believe), he had to first change the workshop code from 00000 to something else before the transmission recode would take. If that is right, you can try changing the workshop code first, then if that works, try recoding the tranny itself.

But, if your code reads 00000 to begin with, there is a good chance this mod is not relevant at all.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/165304.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/165304.phtml</a</li></ul>

Is your version registered and activated?

Default Good thought, but activation doesn't appear necessary

Default Just to make sure we are using the software correctly...

Here is my take on it (based on Ross-Tech's manual). Someone correct me where I may be wrong:

1. Open software and connect to the car.
2. Turn on key just shy of turning over starter, but leave engine off.
3. See <A HREF="http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/main_screen.html">Main Screen</A>, and click on Select Control Module: Selec t.
4. See <A HREF="http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/scm_screen.html">Select Control Module screen</A>, and click on 02-Automatic Trans.
5. See an <A HREF="http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/open_screen.html">Open Controller Screen</A>, and select Recode-07.
6. See <A HREF="http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/recode_screen.html">Recode dialog</A>, where you can enter new numbers for <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/151227.phtml">transmission software coding</a>
(and workshop code). Select "Do it".
7. You should again see the <A HREF="http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/open_screen.html">Open Controller Screen</A>, with the new code showing.
8. Exit the windows by selecting Go Back two or three times.
9. Turn off car and disconnect.

Let me know if this helps, or if you see something I didn't think of.

Default On my '01 it took the 2nd time. On my '00 it couldn't take at all. What is last digits of your TCM

number? [2nd time meaning the 2nd attempt of the first try] The latter version has a DJ as the end number and should accept the code. Initially, I had the dinosaur version of VAG-COM and it was unregistered and it still took the code in the DJ TCM. That time (the 1st time), I used a random Workshop #. You know how it reads 00000 in the workshop # box, but list digits 0000-random(85676); I used the last workshop # in that group for success the first time.
