Default I've made a prototype mount that doesn't use holes...

I hope to make a design that others can copy, but so far this is rather customized.

I put it on the car when I go to San Francisco, where they are picky about those things.

Pictures and info here: Front license mount without bumper holes, and Temporary front license plate mounting, suction cups.

Default No front plate in Delaware. Dealer gives you front mount tossed in trunk.

Only cars trucked in on dealer trades ever have front holes drilled. This is true of all the dealers and all the makes I am aware of in northern Delaware.

Default It seams like the Seattle area cops are after us with no plates

I have been pulled over in the Exploder and my wife in the A6 within the last month. No ticket or verification required. I like your idea of the temporary attachment.

Default When I ordered my car I specifically requested no holes drilled. In Seattle...

area, we are supposed to have front plate mounted as Pete and Bruce have pointed out. However, been 11 years for me and no stopping of any of my cars for no front plate. My argument is that classic cars are issued only a rear plate and they are legally on the road w/o front plates. My cop friend said that it was an "interesting" point. He also stated that he can not pull you over for just a "no front plate" reason. I will continue to drive w/o front plates but still arry my plate in the trunk. Maybe my luck is holding out because I am in a Navy town area (Port Orchard and Bremerton Naval Base) and cops are use to seeing many different state plates around, some states w/o front plates? I'll continue the journey until I get ticketed and appear in court. IMO it is a stupid idea to have a front plate anyway, government can save money (especially in Washington where we are "hurting" with mandated $30 fees for plates down from hundreds of $$). Just my two cents...

Default Very interresting, Doug. When I drove past the WSP trooper at the entrance to Snoqualmie aki area

he was harrassing...er...talking to someone he had pulled over. He pulled in front of my car AFTER I had backed into my parking place and then turned on his party-lights. I asked if I could help him, and he asked where my front plate was. Not thinking very well at 6:30 am I said "In my trunk" instead of merely getting it and putting it on my front dash. Since they are Mariner stadium plates I have the "get out of jail free" form from the DOT in case I "lose" one...makes me "free" until a new plate is made by the state. Didn't think to pull THAT on him, either.

Oh, well. The plate comes off very easily.

Cheers,
