Default Something to cheer you up: My S6 speed governor has vanished!

Yesterday I was able to bring my S6 to a true 271 Km/h (168 mph)and the speed governor did not come into action. The speedo was at just below 280 Km/h (174 mph) and the rev counter at 6200 rpm in 5th gear, which is how I calculated the true speed. I must add that the road was sloping down slightly and I was at +/- 1200 ft altitude only.
I tried again to 6100 rpm = 267 km/h (165.7 mph) and again to 6000 rpm = 262 km/h (162.8 mph).
About a month ago I took the S6 a few times to 250 km/h (257 on the speedo) 5700 rpm and felt the governor coming into action, but not this time.
I called the Service Manager of my usual Audi dealership and he said he has never heard from anybody that the speed governor vanished without being purposely removed! He also told me that any Audi dealer, or anyone having a VAG computer can remove the speed governor!!! by entering the "00" code in a particular directory.
He believes that mine may have shifted to a higher speed code, or reset itself to "00". I will have that checked sometime soon.
The S6 handled very well at those high speeds. I believe the rear spoiler may have help a bit. On bumps it was a bit loose though...

Default I'd like to hear more about using VAG-COM to remove the speed governor.

Default I do not know how to operate it. However, somewhere there is a setting

for the governed speed, which can be altered or cancelled.
When I'll have mine checked I'll try to find out how its done.

Default Holy Crap! 271 km/hr? Don't do it! One blown tire and you're toast.......

Take it easy Andre. We don't need any more bad news.

Default Audi used to do this in Europe (allegedly) when the press were previewing a new model

Default Don't worry, the conditions were perfect, no traffic, wide road, no trees on the side of

the road. Furthermore the tyres, "94Y" rating are designed to handle higher speeds than what I did.

Default Maybe the S6 could have gone over 168 mph, but the road became a bit bumpy at that

point and I did not like behaviour of the S6 then, so I chickened out.
Also I did a true 168, not a speedo reading 168, the speedo read 173 mph

Default I was just thinking that the guy who claimed 170mph had to have at least 340HP

Based on your ride. 340 out of a 2.7t is possible, but not probable

Default I think it was "0111" (?) 340 bhp on a 2.7T ? well the RS4 has 380 bhp out of a 2.7T...

But as you say it does not seem to be very common for A6's 2.7T to have much over 300 bhp with aftermarket chips.
