Default DIY information on Radio Reception Problems for the avant. <edited>

I think I have poor AM radio reception but couldn't find a definitive cause. I put in a new diversity box (on top of the CD changer in the avant) since mine had a broken connector and it's inconclusive as to whether my reception got better. Then I read about an antenna amplifier. Some said it's in the radio for AM, and some said that it's in the back of the car somewhere. Well after checking out my bentley manual, I've found some answers.

The antenna amplifier for the AVANT is part of the antenna and supposedly can be accessed from the rear dome light. This could be another source of poor reception. I'll check this out soon.

Default Doh! The tech bulletin that I had in here was for the B6 sedan only. But the rest still applies for

the B5 avant.

This is the second time the Bentley has given me a B6 tech bulletin.

Default Hmm...radio reception and dome light are randomly fubar

Are you also missing a page? The avant schemtaic shows #7, 8, 9 in rear hatch area, but no description of those areas is provided?

Thanks a bunch, this could be VERY helpful...AM is often terrible and FM is randomly no good...

Default I've been getting bad reception in FM, could this be a similar problem?

VAG at one point said I had a ground problem. Where would I start looking for a bad ground?

Default I have no idea how to look for grounds. I'd love to know how, but I'm not that electrically inclined
