Default new s4 owner: need advice modding

Hey everyone I recently bought an '01 s4 with about 55,000 miles on it and am ready to start modding. I know cars pretty well and worked on my brothers STi with him. I don't however know to much about audi tuning. Any suggestions on where to start would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot,

your going to get murdered posting on here without searching. That being said, the upgrade path for this engine is similar to any turbo car. Starting with a tune (chip), then an exhaust (cat then turbo back), then eventually turbo and fueling upgrades. Get coilovers, not springs. Please don't get a bodykit or wing (besides M3 lip), and try not to approach this car with an STi mentality. This car is a sleeper with a punch and it's nice to keep it that way. I was a n00b like you about a year ago and now just through daily reading of AW I've learned an infinite amount of knowledge and learned to put it to use effectively. Good luck!

I just answered your first fifty or so questions...

There are plenty of good threads about BPV, not to be confused with BOv's.

The powers to be would appreciate it if you need a FMIC or C/O's, or if your CEL comes on and you can't find any DTC's (there's a chance it the MAF, the FPR or maybe you filled up with the car running) that you pay a visit to the vendors and advertisors like AWE, APR or TAP or SPP.

Now, AFAIK, AW has never complained about us talking about KK or DD. Although I remember last year, when averyone was talking about the HID's, and some of the PEEPS starting trying to undercut the paying advertisers, the ropes were tightened alittle, and IMO it wasn't called for.

Make sure when you post a question for help, you give everyone the MY for your S4. Even if you STFA and or say SIA, it's still a PIA, so RTFM and check the FAQ's before you post. Remeber most of us have BTDT and it's likely your thread will be MOAR.

The TBB is a weak link, and on old badge S4's, so is the F-pipe/hose.

If you need to post more than one picture put this in your thread.... don't unless you know how. Everyone will say YSATI.

Alot of guys have VAG so if you need it just ask. You can also, discretely Post that you WTB or WTT and someone will email you.

Just for the record, a hardwired V1 is generally viewd as the best, but like so many other MOD's, YMMV.

OBT, there are no mod friendly dealerships, so don't ask.

Use MWW, WW and BWW only as appropriate..it's bummer when you open something and get a surprise.

TIPS are cool, although I don't like it myself.

Visit the OTF eften it's fun. And also, WOT is even more fun.

J2LUK, S4's are AWD not FWD...that's what makes them so much fun..especially if you live in the NE.

CF is really cool..the real stuff not the imitation. CAI only make your car sound cool..it's pretty much been proven they don't make any additional HP.

Don't get caught up in the old war over TSB's & DTS's. It doesn't matter anymore. And yet the work.

If you find a thread you like, just TT and when it gets old you UT.

TROLLS are a waste of our time...they usually know SH_T.

If someone says TPIWWP, just see my instructions above on how to, and then fix it. You'll get FLAMED, and everyone else will be ROFL.

Don't be a PW. Especially if you have a POS, no-one wants to hear about it anyway.

NORCAL is definatley nicer...and alot folks on the Detailing Forum are from there. Since We're on that topic let me just say..I am a fan of the PC7424. I use IHG followed by GEPC or FP and Blitz. Alot of the guys debate if IHG goes on before or after the GEPC...check it out yourself. I use ERV and HPG on just about everything...even the back of the mirror. AA sucks. P21S BCCS is great..don't use dawn it'll remove your wax. You can get most of this stuff from CCS or CMA. And FGS, don't skimp on MF. Good ones are like a religous experience.

If someone hooks up a GTG, should should attend, on behalf of the brotherhood.

No-one has proven an EFK works, buts it's a good DIY. So is a SS, and E-Codes, which, although I don't have them myself, are much nicer than doing the CC mod. And they have city-lights.

It's good to talk about a good KILL, but don't be a dick. There are a lot of RICERs that think they can take us...they can't..and we don't need to prove it. IMHO, it isn't worth it. Just my 0.02.

Be careful about asking NE1 personal stuff, it's NOYFB. And moderators will probably delete your thread anyway.

So get your GF, go on a KK-run and rent a copy of F&F or switch to SC. You won't see too many KO4's, KO3's if any, but you'll have fun.
