Default Follow up to MarkP's EPL Dyno IAT comparison. (Edit)

As Mark had pointed out in his post where he compared the IAT's from the EPL dyno day, the different boost levels would affect the IAT sensor readings. One way to mitigate that affect is to determine the approximate turbo compressor outlet temperature based upon the MAP sensor boost value. From this and the IAT reading it's possible to estimate the intercooler efficiency.

There are some assumptions involved, so the results still are subject to differences between the vehicles, but making the analysis this way does provide a more honest comparison between the different intercoolers.

The picture shows the results of this further evaluation.

Note: The legend on this chart is different from Mark's due to my use of the data in a different spreadsheet. The car owner's name is included for cross reference with Mark's chart.

Default Interesting...

Can you include the link to MarkP's logs which include the color-code legend?

Default Nice. It's good to see the AWE's large core has merit at higher boost levels.

Default Yeah, AWE's do seem to show some advantage. This doesn't factor in pressure drop though.

Dunno which IC would win out there.

Default 2nd. Interesting that the one RS4 IC car starts out w/ a much different base.

Which setup/car was that?

Default That was my next question - lets see flow characteristics from 6500-7200 between the two.

More metal certainly = a better heat sink in this case.

Default Dunno either...

I doubt it would be anything significant.
