Default Heatwraping metal MAF's?

I don't know about you guys, but my metal MAF gets super hot. Much hotter than my plastic RS4 MAF ever did. Is it possible that the air passing through the metal MAF gets superheated causing us to lose hp?

I ordered some 4x4 squares of heatwrap from ECS and I'm going to fabricate a MAF sleeve for the MAF to see if my g's go up.

Thoughts?

Default You worry too much: Leave it alone.

If you feel it after you've been driving a while it should be pretty cool.

Default Compared to the heat introduced by the turbos... I'd guess it's negligible.

I have the same feeling about my bipipe. It's after the IC's and has a considerably more surface area...

Default this idea is completely out of the blue...

It has nothing to do with the ASP kit. It's simply a random thought of the day.

..just bored I guess. 8^)

Default Seriously Kitt, think about it...

Think about the surface area of the air flowing through the MAF that is actually contacting the inside surface of the MAF. Think about the boundary layer that forms in a MAF. Think about how quickly the air moves through the MAF at WOT (think thousandths of a second).

Think it's silly?

Default OT: So, I've wondered, if the metal MAF gets hotter, what would a metal intake do?
